Where Does Russian Santa Claus live? Trip to Ded Moroz's Official Residence

Ded Moroz (Дед Моро́з) is the name of the Russian Santa Claus. It literally means “Grandfather Frost”. Russian Ded Moroz is the main character at the New Year’s celebration and favorite granddaddy of all Russian kids. 




Дед Мороз - это имя русского Санта Клауса. Русский Дед Мороз - главный герой Новогодних праздников и любимый дедушка всех русских детей. 


18 ноября в России - День рождения Деда Мороза. В этот день на его родине в Великом Устюге начинается настоящая зима со снегом и морозами.  

November 18 in Russia is the birthday of Father Frost. On this day, in his homeland in Veliky Ustyug, a real winter begins with snow and frost. 

Кстати, там находится официальная резиденция главного русского волшебника. Он живёт в большом красивом доме, который может посетить каждый желающий. Там есть кабинет, спальня, библиотека и другие комнаты, где можно посмотреть и потрогать чудесные вещи. 

By the way, there is the official residence of the main Russian wizard. He lives in a large beautiful house that anyone can visit. There is an office, a bedroom, a library and other rooms where you can see and touch wonderful things.



В этот день Деда Мороза посещают его сказочные коллеги: Чисхан, Микулаш, Санта-Клаус, Снегурочка и Паккайне. На центральной площади Великого Устюга проходят праздничные мероприятия, а на первой новогодней ёлке зажигаются огни. 

On this day, Father Frost is visited by his fabulous colleagues: Chishan, Mikulas, Santa Claus, Snegurochka (Snow Maiden) and Pakkayne. Celebrations are held on the central square of Veliky Ustyug, and lights are lit on the first New Year tree. 

После праздника Дед Мороз поедет по российским городам и в каждом будет вместе с детьми зажигать огни на новогодних ёлках. Скоро Новый Год! 

After the holiday, Father Frost will travel to Russian cities. Together with children he will light fires on New Year trees. New Year is coming soon!
