Russian autumn is a beautiful, but a little sad season. Why? Because we know that summer has ended, and nature will fall asleep soon. The weather will become colder, windy and snowy. In this lesson, we'll discuss Russian autumn vocabulary. You'll learn how to talk about the autumn weather in Russian. Also, we'll talk about clothes we wear in autumn and learn some names of delicious fruits and vegetables.

1. ОСЕНЬ - Autumn
Сентябрь - это первый месяц осени. September is the first autumn month.
Сейчас конец сентября и на улице прохладно. It's the end of September and it's cool outdoors.
Люди надевают куртки или пальто. People put on jackets and coats.
Иногда идёт дождь, поэтому надо брать зонтик. Sometimes it's raining, so you need an umbrella.
Какая погода осенью в вашей стране? Холодно или тепло? And what about the weather in your country in autumn? Is it cold or warm?
Какую одежду вы носите в сентябре? What clothes do you wear in September?
А в вашей стране есть бабье лето? Какая у вас погода в начале осени? Is there a Indian summer in your country? What is your weather like at the beginning of autumn?
Люди собирают урожай в августе и сентябре. People gather harvest in August and September.
В этом году мы собрали богатый урожай. This year we gathered a rich harvest.
Осенью на деревьях жёлтые листья. In the autumn leaves on the trees are yellow.

Зимой очень мало свежих овощей, поэтому осенью мы делаем соления - солёные огурцы, помидоры, капусту, перец, кабачки. In winter we don't have many fresh vegetables. That's why we make preserved vegetables - salty cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage, bell peppers and zucchini. Конечно, зимой тоже можно купить свежие помидоры или огурцы, но эти овощи невкусные, потому что они растут в теплице. Of course, we can buy fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, but they're not delicious, because they grow in the greenhouse.
